Here it is, folks! The time of year where we all have fun plans for Fourth of July and are already preparing our drinks, foods, and activities. Well, except me. Not this year. As someone who has had too much to drink every Fourth of July in her late teen and adult life (except for the year I was pregnant and the year I was breastfeeding), I am pretty much inclined to skip the holiday altogether.
Unfortunately, it’s just not that easy. I LOVE the holiday, the “red, white, and blue”, and the fireworks. My kids expect some sort of party or gathering. Maybe braving the beach crowds early in the day, hitting our own pool in the late afternoon and then watching the fireworks from a “safe” location. Doesn’t sound incredibly social but it may be the best I can do this year.
I’m surprised that this holiday is like a thorn in my side. Perhaps it has something to do with my upcoming 365th day of sobriety in a few weeks? Maybe my resolve is bea
I’m really looking forward to the 5th of July. How about you?
